Weakfish, sometimes referred to as ocean trout. In my opinion, one of the best tasting, most colorful fish we target. Typically around in August, September, and October, these are fish I grew up catching in my 8ft. boat in the bay. We chum grass shrimp and use soft plastics when they are thick in the slick. This is a great fish to target for those worried about seasickness or if small kids are aboard because we anchor in calm waters of the bay for these spooky fish.
There is no sight like a 40lb. striped bass top water feeding on a panic-sticken bunker school. Snag and drop, troll spoons, swim shads, or umbrellas. This is an exciting fish to catch. Spring and Fall are best times to target this fishery.
